小林豊 Kobayashi Yutaka

PROFILE

Kobayashi Yutaka was born in 1946, in Tokyo.

Following his graduation from Rikkyo University, Dept. of Sociology, he went to England to continue his studies and decided to become an artist there.

In 1979, for the first time his works were selected for display in an exhibition on Japanese arts.

In 1983, he won the “Ueno Mori Museum Special Award”.

From the early 1970’ies and early 80’ies he traveled extensively in the Middle East and Asia. His experiences from those journey are said to have a deep impact on his works.

Mr. Kobayashi’s illustrated children’s books, reflect his desire to share his experiences as a globetrotter with the children. His books are popular not only in Japan but in many other countries around the world.
